Public hustings session with Bognor Regis and Littlehampton Parliamentary Candidates.
24th April, 2010
7.30pm
Alexandra TheatreRegis CentreBognor Regis.
Organised by http://www.bognorregiscivicsociety.com
Candidates:
Melissa Briggs – Independent (attended)
Douglas Denny – UK Independence Party (attended)
Nick Gibb – Conservative
Michael Jones – Labour
Simon McDougall – Liberal Democrat
Andrew Moffat – British National Party (attended)
(as told by the organisers) labour called the organisers and put presure on them to not allow them to admit the BNP the organisers refused, which caused the conservative and lib dems to pull out as well.
large quantity people turned up to this. Lots were disappointed.
Subjects discussed were education, health, state of the roads, ecouraging industry, teaching gay sex to 5 year olds.
one man said to Melissa Briggs ‘how dare she share a stage with the BNP (andrew moffat)’ and was booed by most of the audience and left.
At the end of the meeting a vote was held to send the three that didn’t attend a letter of rebuke (all but 3. a unanimous
decision)
All felt the party’s not attending were undemocratic.
Congratulations and respect to the Bognor Civic Society for standing up for free speech…
