An idiot calling himself a Christian let fly with a head full of angry snakes at Mr Simon Darby this morning on BBC radio.
You can make your own mind up about the lunatic but you'll see I already have.
Incidentally, he doesn't speak for me, I'm a Christian and Simon Darby speaks for me.
The BBC doesn't speak for me, especially the bith on here who never once allowed Simon Darby to actually respond to a question!

When you say the right things the wrong way ...
Well, I was hoping to get the blog moving again soon, and I wanted to focus more on my personal journey as a peacemaker. But I didn't think I would have to do it with a confession that i had just lost it with the deputy leader of the BNP. I plead guilty to behaviour not befitting a peacemaker.
Victoria's Derbyshire's programme on Five Live was in Luton this morning talking about the subject of immigration. I was in the invited audience, and primed to speak at an appropriate moment in a very vigorous debate. The political guests were Phil Woolas (Labour's Immigration Minister), James Brokenshire (Conservative spokesperson on Home Affairs), Tom Brake (Liberal Democrat spokesperson on Home Affairs), Gerard Batten (UK Independence Party MEP, and UKIP spokesperson on immigration) .... and Simon Darby, Deputy Chairman of the BNP.
You can hear the show on the Victoria Derbysire Show Webpage for the next month. Its all interesting as a reflection on how the good people of Luton feel about the subject, and the lack of inspiration offered by most of the parties. Very broadly most people here -- of whichever race or creed - feel there needs to be some limits.
I am going to be very honest here. I need to be as public in my confession as I can be because I was very public in my angry outburst. I may have been right in what I said, in its own context, but I missed what he was saying, and my manner in speaking was not appropriate to the role of peacemaking that I seek to walk in.
We had listened to rather a lot of stuff from Mr Darby (who amongst other things is notorious for labeling Archbishop John Sentamu and his fellow Ugandans as "spear throwers"; stories from Luton people and some stuff from the other politicians. The audience had largely shown their total disapproval of Mr Darby. Asked why, he was talking about the failures of the media, the church ... and I sure what would have come next because I burst in.
I had been queued to come in and challenge the BNP's claim to speak for the Christian heritage of Britain. But he was about to leave and I was thinking, will i get my words in. I was not fully attending to what he said and I heard him say church. I was furious, and out it came.
"THE CHURCH, THE CHURCH, HOW DARE YOU SPEAK FOR THE CHURCH! ...."
You can listen from about 49mins into the programme as Victoria asks Darby a question. It was loud, it was angry, it was strident. What you cannot see is the body language and actions.
What I said was what I wanted to say. But the manner of my saying (well, I will be honest, shouting it) was not what i wanted to convey. I am committed to be a peacemaker, a follower of Jesus Christ who is called the Prince of Peace. My life, my manner, my actions and my words need to be as one. As my Sikh friend Jaswinder said to me afterwards, "your body language didn't quite fit the message." You can hear my Jewish friend next to me telling me to calm down. My mother, listening on radio said, "you got quite angry, dear".
Its hard. I got a lot of applause. Quite a few people in the audience came and shook my hand as we moved into the news section of the programme. I got a lot of tweets afterwards. ( I tweet at petergmadams ). Yet I am not here just to shout at people. I work to bring change. I want my words, and more importantly the ways and teaching of Jesus Christ to change lives. And you don't hear that in my words. I know Simon Darby wont have heard that, and I know it was in no way transformational. He will have heard yet another bigotted and angry person.
I wanted to challenge his bigotry. But I was as bigoted. I wanted to challenge the politics of anger. But I was angry.
I openly confess my wrong.
I will be reflecting further on this sometime soon. I hope to get this blog moving. Maybe this will be the stimulus.

Voted “the crappest town in the UK” in 2004, (the wikipedia article is here) and recently lambasted by the Sun newspaper after the murder of one of our police, Luton is popularly known for Islamic fundamentalism, a dreary landscape, a bad university, M1 Junction 10 and its airport – the quickest ways out! “You mean, you moved from Harpenden to Luton?” has been heard more than once as we changed our address.
Obviously the idiot can't make his Marxist mind up and has made St Mary's church in Luton where he works as 'multicultural relations' manager, look completely ridiculous and has entered it into a political argument.
This man is a do gooder who thinks he can reason with the cult, he is just another Hypocrite minority defender whilst angrily attacking the people who are the first line of defense, he is not a holyman nor a Christian by any means.
ReplyDeleteAgree mate.
ReplyDeleteAll he did was show how stupid he is and make more normal people vote BNP.
The audience had largely shown their total disapproval of Mr Darby.
ReplyDeleteAn audience seemingly made up of the same hand picked anti factions and miniority interest groups as that used against Nick Griffin on Q/T. The same self serving groups professionally organised by the UAF and other state ponsored agencies dedicated to the overthrow and replacement of the native people.
In any other place but Europe this would be called 'Ethnic cleansing.' But it's not going to work and we will not be going so GENTLY INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT. So stuff your (third world) multicultural society.
We never asked for it; we never wanted it.
It was landed on us by liars, thieves, and traitors.
What a dill!
