LibLab Pact is Deal Done!

Brown dumped!

As always is the case with Gordon Brown or politicians in general, you have to read between the lies lines to see what the outcome will be of what they say in speeches.

So here we have it, Gordon Brown has indicated a willingness to step down providing stability of the country can be made in a deal between Labour and LibDems.

My headline here could of course be somewhat premature and it could be completely wrong, but here's my take on why I think a deal has already been done between Labour and the LibDems and what I think will happen next.

1. Libdem leader Nick Clegg has always said that he would sooner do a deal with labour in the event of a hung parliament, because their policies were not too far apart, particularly on the position of Britain's membership of the European Union.

2. Nick Clegg has also said on many occasions that it would be impossible to shore up a minority government with Gordon Brown as Prime Minister, when he had never been elected into office by the people except in his own constituency as MP.

3. Given that LibDem's main aim is to gain proportional representation, and given that Labour has already undertaken to pledge a referendum on AV (top-up) voting, similar to the Australian system. It remains only that the LibDems would a) Agree a deal 'without' anything more than Gordon Brown resigning as leader, or b) Have gotten a deal on the basis that a referendum would be conducted in future on PR and AV or just PR alone.

4. In such circumstances, Nick Clegg will claim a triumph if he managed to gain such a referendum, Gordon Brown will claim a triumph of his own commonsense and patriotic duty to have 'put the country first', and the people will claim a triumph because they will undoubtedly have gain more of a voice under a system of PR than under a FPTP system which sees Labour follow Tory, follow Labour follow Tory forevermore.

That's my take on it as far as I can 'guess' based on what the leaders have said thusfar.

Secondly, if I am correct and a LibLab Pact goes ahead, then we will finally know what it is to be by this weekend. (Currently, they will be finding details to agree rather than the fundaments of their agreement which I believe has already been made as a signal from Brown that he will stand down).

Thirdly, this means we are in for a period of 'stability' whilst they choose another date for a general election but that will be last on their agenda unless the markets buck at this pact. I foresee this could be a distinct possibility but we'll wait and see. Needless to say, a leadership contest for Labour has to be undertaken and that won't happen until August/ September but that would still mean an unelected Prime Minister unless an election is called shortly thereafter. (October).

Cameron dumped!

Lastly, no Conservative Party leader in history has remained for long once defeated, so I expect to see another leader chosen soon for the Tory party, and to see Cameron sat on a liberal car dump somewhere in his bust up Beetle truck, where he belongs, as he sure is no leader, he sure is no politician, he sure is no heavyweight, and he sure is no Conservative.

What he is, is Done For, and so will we be if the British people are conned into voting for any of that lot ever again or indeed at the next general election, when they have all sought to betray the British people in more than one way over these last 13 years between them.
